Kindle Unlimited Review: Is It Worth The Money?

Kindle Unlimited review

Reading apps are a trend nowadays. But with so many reading apps out there, how do we know which one to use? In today’s post, we did a Kindle Unlimited review to give you one good option.

What is Kindle Unlimited?

Before we get into our Kindle Unlimited review, let’s first get to know the app.

Kindle Unlimited is a reader subscription service offered through Amazon.

Users are provided with access to more than one million book, audiobook, and magazine titles through their subscription service.

Quite literally, it is like carrying around a virtual library on your phone, tablet, or e-reader.

However, unlike libraries, Kindle Unlimited does not impose due dates or late fees on its subscribers. Users can browse and borrow up to ten books at a time.

To subscribe to Kindle Unlimited, you must have an active Amazon account and a valid, registered credit card on file.

Kindle Unlimited Subscription Cost

Kindle Unlimited subscribers pay $9.99 a month for their service. This is less than the price of most store-bought books.

Billed automatically to the user’s credit card each month, the subscription service continues until the user decides to cancel it.

Furthermore, there are no hidden fees in a Kindle Unlimited subscription. This means that subscribers can easily discontinue their service at any time with no added cost.

Cancellation is done directly through the Amazon website under the user’s account settings.

Kindle Unlimited Review: Is It Worth the Money?

The debate over whether Kindle Unlimited is worth the cost has been a hot topic since the program’s original unveiling.

Some readers say they are frustrated over the limited number of authors currently participating in the program. Others say the selection doesn’t fit their personal tastes or preferences.

However, these claims tend to be fairly far and few between. Most readers claim to find value in the subscription, especially since new authors are constantly joining the program.

Moreover, multiple titles are being added to the program each day.

Romance readers tend to find a great deal of value in the subscription service, as many of the participating authors write books in the romance genre.

Nonetheless, there are numerous, high-rated titles in other genres as well, including literary fiction, young adult, mystery, thriller, and suspense.

Audiobook users also tend to find substantial value in their subscriptions. This is because audiobooks can expensive when purchased outright.

So, when considering whether Kindle Unlimited is truly worth the cost, the real question becomes whether Kindle Unlimited is worth the price for you, personally.

That answer is, perhaps, best determined by subscribing under Kindle Unlimited’s free trial.

Kindle Unlimited Free Trial

kindle unlimited review

New Kindle Unlimited subscribers are offered a 30-day free trial on the program. During that time, you can borrow and read as many books as you like (up to ten at a time).

This is great for those who haven’t decided yet if they want to purchase a subscription or not.

This way, readers can use this time to determine if the service may be worth keeping before paying the Kindle Unlimited subscription price.

When deciding whether they should continue their subscription after the free trial expires, many readers compare the cost and benefit that they experienced while using their free Kindle Unlimited subscription.

They calculate the overall, original cost of the books that they borrowed during their free trial period and then compare it to the cost of the subscription.

For most, the original price far exceeds the $9.99 Kindle Unlimited subscription price. Audiobook readers tend to find the greatest amount of value in this cost-benefit analysis.
